Usability engineering

In early stages of the developing process of the system, a set of goals is determined to evaluate its usability.

The designers define the tasks to be performed by a real user and the attributes of usability to be considered when doing the tests. These abstract attributes are descibed then in terms of the actual product (e.g. change the language of the system).

The general idea is to measure the usability of a product by using a non-finished model of the system by setting explicit requirements like time, transactions per minute, number of actions, etc.
